The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles end their season playing number one ranked North Branch High School falling in 3 sets in the state semifinal. The Eagles finished this game with the same grit and tenacity they have played with all season. Though they were not able to take control of the match they played hard, forcing the Broncos to earn each point.   Grace Goodyke stood out on offense with 16 kills followed by Kayden Warren with a .750 hitting efficacy and zero errors for the entire match. Mallory Bremer was a standout for the match with 13 digs, a passing average of 2.7 and 2 aces leading to many offensive opportunities. Grace Spoelma led with 17 assists followed by Hanna Bredeweg with 15, challenging a very efficient Bronco defense.   The team played a good match against a formidable opponent displaying their skills as volleyball players. Beyond this great achievement this team will leave a legacy of strong leadership by its six incredible Seniors. Ella Boorsma, Rachel Larsen, Grace Spoelma, Hanna Bredeweg, Savannah Bol, and Kayden Warren will be remembered for their leadership and the great passion for Eagles volleyball. They have paved a way of success for the classes to come and will be remembered as great volleyball players but more importantly, fantastic teammates.   The Eagles end their season with a record of 36-12-1. During their season they had a winning streak of 9 games in a row and took home the win at two tournaments: The West Catholic Invite and the Rockford Rock and Rumble. Their record for the post season was  5-1 ending a very successful 3 months. GO EAGLES!

Grand Rapids Christian High School showcased their dominance as they swept Edwardsburg in the State quarter finals with a commanding 3-0 victory, with scores of 25-15, 25-23, and 26-24, showcasing the team's ability to perform under pressure.   Leading the charge for Grand Rapids Christian was Grace Goodyke, whose remarkable performance included 17 kills. Her consistent attacking power proved to be pivotal in securing crucial points for the team.   Savannah Bol played a significant role on offense as well, displaying her exceptional hitting efficiency with a remarkable rate of .625.   Hanna Bredeweg made her mark with two well-executed aces, adding to the team's momentum and creating difficulties for Edwardsburg to regain their footing. Her strategic serves helped keep their opponents on their heels throughout the match.   The team's success was not limited to the offensive end, as Madison Peal showcased her defensive skills with an impressive 14 digs. Her exceptional reflexes and precise positioning prevented Edwardsburg from gaining momentum and added an extra layer of security to their overall performance.   Defensively, Grace Spoelma played a crucial role with two big blocks with help from Savannah Bol and Kayden Warren. Their ability to shut down the opposition's attacks further solidified Grand Rapids Christian's dominance on the court.   This comprehensive team effort allowed Grand Rapids Christian to secure a convincing victory over Edwardsburg in the State quarter finals. With this triumph, they move one step closer to their ultimate goal of winning the State championship.   The Team will play their next match against number one ranked North Branch High School in the State Semi Final at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek at 6:30pm.

The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles are victorious in the in the Regional Final, sweeping Grand Rapids Catholic Central 3-0. The final scores of the sets were 25-19, 25-15, and 25-20. This match further highlighted the team's exceptional talent and unity on the court.   The Eagles maintained an impressive hitting percentage of .304 throughout the match, demonstrating their offensive accuracy. Leading the team with an outstanding performance was Grace Goodyke, who tallied an impressive 16 kills and an exceptional .500 hitting efficiency.   Ella Boorsma showcased her skills at the service line, contributing three aces that put pressure on the opposing team. Boorsma's accurate and powerful serves were instrumental in gaining and extending crucial point leads during the match.   In terms of passing, the Eagles exhibited exceptional teamwork, maintaining an average passing rate of 2.3. Mallory Bremer played a crucial role in this area, leading the team with an incredible passing average of 2.7. The team's collective passing skills ensured efficient ball distribution and set up numerous opportunities and the eventual win for the team.   On the defensive end, Madison Peal displayed exceptional agility and determination, recording a remarkable 11 digs. The team's outstanding display of grit and resilience throughout the game showcased their exceptional skills and determination.   Leading the charge on offense was Grace Goodyke, who showcased her power with an impressive 14 kills. Lucy VanDrunen had a standout night and contributed 11 kills with a remarkable hitting efficiency of .611. Their combined efforts provided a dominant offensive presence for the team.   Mallory Bremer excelled on the defensive with 14 digs, displaying exceptional agility and anticipation. Additionally, Bremer also showcased her skills at the end line, contributing 3 crucial aces that kept the momentum for the Eagles and propelled a 2nd set win.   Hanna Bredeweg and Grace Spoelma worked in harmony to deliver precise second touches. The duo combined for an impressive total of 32 assists, ensuring efficient distribution of the ball and superior offense.   The team's blocking was also a standout feature in the match, with Kayden Warren and Savannah Bol leading the charge. They combined for a total of 6 blocks between the two of them!   This district title win for Grand Rapids Christian Volleyball was a testament to the team's collective effort and unwavering determination as they came from behind to win in all three sets. Eagles Win: 3.00 - 2.00
The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles emerged triumphant with an intense 3-2 victory over Forest Hills Eastern in a thrilling District semi-final match. The hard-fought battle showcased the teams' skill, resilience, and passion, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats. The Eagles dominated early on, taking a 2-0 lead, but Forest Hills Eastern fought back, reducing the deficit to 2-2. In a tense finale, the Eagles took the last set with a 15-11 victory.   The Eagles dominated on offense with 45 total kills and an overall hitting percentage of .252. The Eagles were led by Grace Goodyke with 17 kills followed by Kayden Warren with 10. Madison Peal and Grace Spoelma took charge on defense with 17 digs a piece. A big contributor to the Eagles success was blocking, the team finished the match with an incredible 17 total blocks led by Kayden Warren with 6, Savannah Bol with 5, and Hanna Bredeweg with 4.   The Eagles secured their spot in the highly anticipated final this Friday November 3 at 6:00pm at the Quest Center

In a tightly contested match, the Eagles faced a tough defeat against the Red Arrows of Lowell High School, finishing with a score of 1-3. The sets were closely fought, with scores of 18-25, 25-13, 20-25, and 25-27. Although the loss was disappointing, there were standout performances.   Grace Goodyke led the offensive charge with an impressive 16 kills, and Kayden Warren demonstrated exceptional accuracy, with a hitting percentage of .462 contributing significantly to the team's offensive efforts.   On defensive, Madison Peal stood out with 17 digs, her efforts were instrumental in keeping the team competitive and frustrating the Red Arrows' offense.   Despite the loss, our team demonstrated commendable teamwork and skill. With an average pass rating of 2.1, the players showcased their strong passing abilities, setting up effective plays and maintaining an offensive advantage. Additionally, the team's nine total blocks showcased their defensive capabilities, effectively halting the Red Arrows and forcing errors.   Though it was a tough loss, we applaud the team's perseverance, and resilience. The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles went on the road to play Byron Center in the semifinal match for the Conference Tournament. The Eagles suffered a tough loss falling 0-3. The team took control of the match early but fell short in game one, this set the tone for the future matches leading to hard exchanges. Although the team fell short Madison Peal led the team all around with a 2.5 passing average and 10 digs. The Eagles take on the Red Arrows of Lowell High School in the final match of conference play on Thursday October 26 at 6:00pm at Lowell High School.

The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles arrived at the East vs West volleyball tournament in Lowell this Saturday and achieved an impressive 3rd place finish. The Eagles demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill throughout a very competitive day.   The tournament kicked off with intense matches against Marian, Cadillac and Portage Northern High School. The Eagles faced formidable opponents but displayed their resilience and emerged in the top two advancing to the gold bracket.   Building on their early success, the Eagles faced rivals, Lowell High School, in a exciting encounter. The Eagles dominated on first contacts and triumphed over the Red Arrows with a 2-0 victory, showcasing their ability to perform under pressure. This win propelled them into the semifinals, further fueling their ambition.   In a hard-fought battle, the Eagles fought against Clarkson High School. Clarkson managed to take home the win and advanced to the finals against Marian High School.   As the team reflects on their successes and prepare for future challenges, the Eagles can take pride in their exceptional performance. Their journey in the tournament showcased their readiness as they head into post season.   The Eagles play their next match at Byron Center High School against Byron Center at 6:00pm in the second round of the conference tournament.

The Eagles dominated the Wildcats of Northview High School, winning with a sweeping victory of 3-0. The Eagles showcased their dominance in all three sets, with scores of 25-9, 25-15, and 25-11. Several players stood out with exceptional performances, contributing to the team's success.   One player who deserves special recognition is Grace Goodyke. Her exceptional performance on the court was a key factor in the Eagles' victory. She led at the net with 13 kills. Another standout player on offense was Grace Spoelma with a hitting percentage of .636 and 7 kills.   Also Contributing to the Eagles' success was Ella Boorsma. Boorsma showcased her serving skills by securing four aces, adding to the team's offensive momentum and causing trouble for the Wildcats' defense.   Rachel Larson proved to be a vital asset for the Eagles. Larson consistently demonstrated solid passings skills, leading the team with a passing average of 2.5.   Overall, the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles displayed exceptional teamwork and skill throughout the match, resulting in their convincing 3-0 victory over the Wildcats. In the highly anticipated Beast of the East Volleyball Tournament, the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles showcased their skills against top-notch competitors from Bloomfield Hills, DeWitt, Eisenhower, Dakota, and Jenison.   During pool play, the Eagles put up an impressive 2-1 record, displaying their tenacity and determination led by Senior, Rachel Larsen, who demonstrated an attitude that continuously brought the Eagles to victory in tough matches. This performance was enough to propel the team into the gold bracket, where they faced off against Dakota High School. With their grit tested, the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles put on a remarkable display and emerged victorious against their opponents.   the Eagles' remarkable journey in the tournament faced a setback in the quarterfinals when they squared off against a formidable opponent, Jenison High School. The match was fiercely contested, with both teams giving it their all. In a thrilling encounter that went into overtime during the third set, the Eagles were bested by Jenison High School with a final score of 1-2.   Despite the quarterfinal loss, the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles can hold their heads high. They finished the tournament in the top 8 out of 32 teams, an achievement that speaks volumes about their skill and determination.   The Beast of the East Volleyball Tournament provided a platform for the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles to showcase their abilities against tough opponents. In a highly anticipated matchup, our team faced a tough loss against the formidable Red Arrows of Lowell High School. The match ended with a score of 3 sets to 1 in favor of the Red Arrows.   Set one kicked off with palpable energy as both teams displayed their prowess on the court. The eagles demonstrated their power with 11 kills and zero errors keeping the game neck-and-neck. However, Lowell High School's relentless defense and precision passing proved to be the determining factor as they managed to secure the first set, finishing with a score of 21-25.   Undeterred by the initial setback, the team rallied in the second set, determined to even the odds. Stellar teamwork and impeccable serving allowed the Eagles to keep up with the Red Arrows' aggressive attacks. Ultimately, the team managed to claim victory in the second set with a score of 25-9, tying the match at 1-1.   The third set witnessed an intense battle for dominance on the court. The Red Arrows came back with renewed determination despite the team's valiant efforts to counterattack, Lowell maintained their momentum and clinched the third set, finishing with a score of 12-25.   As the match progressed into the fourth and final set, the team's fighting spirit remained. Serving as their last chance to turn the tide, the team worked hard, showcasing outstanding athleticism. However, the Red Arrows maintained their composure, responding with powerful attacks and impeccable defensive skills. In the end, Lowell managed to secure the victory in the fourth set with a score of 17-25, taking the match 3-1.   Despite the loss, the team played with incredible tenacity and showcased their skills against a formidable opponent. Hanna Bredeweg led on offense with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .458. The Eagles were led on defense by Piper Cebulski with 4 blocks and Madison Peal with 12 digs.   The Eagles play their next match this Saturday at the Beast of the East Tournament in Pontiac.

Grand Rapids Christian Volleyball shine on spectacular senior night!   It was an unforgettable Senior Night for the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles as they celebrated their senior players with resounding victory over the Greenville High School Yellow Jackets. The Eagles displayed their dominance, resulting in a commanding three-set win, with scores of 25-23, 25-6, and 25-9.   While the entire team deserves praise for their outstanding performance, it was the seniors who truly stole the show. These individuals have dedicated years to the sport and have been instrumental in the team's success throughout their high school careers.   Grace Goodyke brought her A-game to the court and delivered an exceptional performance with an impressive tally of 11 kills.   Senior, Grace Spoelma, left a lasting impact on the game with her outstanding hitting percentage of .556. Spoelma's precision and consistency were unmatched as she effectively exploited the opponent's weaknesses, mounting relentless attacks.   Hanna Bredeweg, a senior leader, showcased her exceptional play making abilities with 12 assists that set up her team for success. The seamless connection she established between the setters and hitters ensured the team's offense ran like a well-oiled machine. Additionally, Bredeweg's relentless defensive effort resulted in her leading the team with six digs, showcasing her versatility and dedication to every aspect of the game.   Savannah Bol, a senior force at the net, provided a formidable presence with her exceptional blocking skills. The Eagles had the opportunity to travel to Jenison High School to play in the Jenison Invitational this weekend. The Eagles ended up placing 3rd going 4-1. The team started the morning playing Zeeland West where they won both sets 25-21. The Eagles moved on to play South Christian winning again 25-17 and 25-18. This game marked an incredible milestone for Senior Setter Grace Spoelma as she reached 1000 career assists. She was supported throughout the match by her teammates and the passing efforts of Madison peal, Mallory Bremer and Hanna Bredeweg who had a passing average of 2.4. The Eagles ended the morning by taking first place in their pool after another exciting win against Byron Center. The Eagles had an incredible game winning in two sets with scores of 26-24 and 25-18. Together the team accomplished a hitting efficiency of .349 and 7 total blocks. They were led by Rachel Larsen on serve receive with a perfect 3.0 passing average. Defense was led by Savannah Bol with 3 blocks and Hanna Bredeweg with 7 digs. The team moved on to the gold bracket where they won the quarterfinal game against Holland Christian 25-22 and 25-16. The team dominated at the service line with aces from Alayna McGowan, Ella Boorsma, Grace Goodyke, Rachel Larsen and three aces from Lucy VanDrunan. The team eventually fell to number seven ranked Jenison high school 0-2 after a long day of high energy play. The next match for the Eagles will be their Senior Night, October 10 at 6:00pm against Greenville High School.

The Eagles traveled to rival East Grand Rapids High School and left with a 3-0 win over the Pioneers with scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-20. The Eagles took control from the beginning with the help of Ella Boorsma. She started the match with a 6-point run and a total of 5 aces for the match. Grace Goodyke led on offense with a total of 10 kills, followed by Grace Spoelma with 7. Kayden Warren and Savannah Bol both led in hitting efficiency with a hitting percentage of .400. The Eagles had control of the match from beginning to end with great first touches from both Mallory Bremer and Madison Peal with a passing average of 2.1. The Eagles play their next match at the Jenison Invite where they will play top teams like Jenison, Byron Center, Hudsonville and Forest Hills Northern.

The Eagles swept the Wildcats of Northview High School 3-0 with scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-16. The Eagles were able to show off their skills in front of an awesome crowd filled with Eagle supporters and the energetic GRCMS volleyball teams. The Eagles played tough at the net with a team hitting efficiency of .337. The team was led by Grace Goodyke and Savannah Bol with 7 kills apiece, followed by Lucy VanDrunen, Grace Spoelma and Kayden Warren all with 6. Grace Spoelma led at the service line with an impressive 4 aces and 13 attempts providing opportunities for the Eagles to take the lead in all three matches. The Eagles play their next match against rivals East Grand Rapids next Tuesday, October 3 at 6:00pm.

Eagles Lose: 2.00 - 3.00
The Eagles made their way to Forest Hills Northern this Thursday to play their third conference match of the season. The team fell in five sets to the D1 contender 25-22, 25-27, 16-25, 26-24, and 10-15. The team showed their resilience, again, against a very physical team. Defense led the way for the Eagles. Big digs forced errors from the Huskies and created momentum that drove the Eagles forward, coming back in the fourth set after 2-13 deficit to win the game. The team was led by Hanna Bredeweg with 20 digs and five blocks. Grace Goodyke led on offense with 11 kills and Kayden Warren with a hitting efficacy of .500. The Eagles continue moving forward with their next match on Tuesday, September 26 against Northview high School at home at 7:00pm.

Eagles Win: 3.00 - 2.00
The Eagles started the week off strong taking down number three ranked Byron Center 3-2 with scores of 25-19, 21-25, 24-26, 25-16, and 15-10. The Eagles played every set with grit and resiliency. This was truly a team win as every member of the Eagles volleyball team contributed and positively influenced the six members on the court towards victory. Kayden Warren led the team with 12 kills and a hitting efficiency of .750. Both her and Savannah Bol led the team in blocks with four a piece. Madison Peal stood against a formitable offense and led with 25 digs alongside Hanna Bredeweg with 18. A big part of the Eagles win came from aggressive first contacts. The team had their best serving game this season with a serving efficacy of 92%. The team was led by Rachel Larsen and Grace Spoelma with two aces a piece. The Eagles play their next match against another conference rival this Thursday, September 21 at 6:00pm at Forest Hills. GO EAGLES!

Eagles volleyball swept past the Rangers of Forest Hills Central in their first conference match of the season. The Eagles won 3-0 with scores of: 25-18, 25-15, and 25-17. The team worked efficiently with a hitting percentage of .271 and an incredible passing average of 2.3. The Eagles were led at the net by Grace Goodyke with 12 kills followed by Grace Spoelma with 7. Savannah Bol and Madison Peal led on defense; Savannah with 5 blocks and Madison with 25 digs. The team plays their next match against top ranked Byron Center on Tuesday September 19 at 6:00pm.

Eagles volleyball had another exciting weekend playing some of the top teams in the state at the EK invitational. The Eagles took first in their pool beating Holland Christian and Northview 2-0. In pool play the Eagles were led on offense by Mallory Bremer with 21 kills and Savannah Bol with an impressive hitting percentage of .400. Hanna Bredeweg led at the serving line with two aces a piece, she also put the Eagles in a good position on offense with 26 assists. Madison Peal led in the back row with a passing average of 2.2 and 26 total digs.   The Eagles moved forward to the gold bracket facing off once again with rival Lakewood High School. The Eagles beat the Vikings for the second time this season 2-0 with scores of 25-20 and 25-17. Grace Spoelma led the team on offense with 6 kills, a hitting percentage of .385 and 9 assists. Madison Peal and Rachel Larson both led on defense with 13 digs. After the win against Lakewood the Eagles faced off against #3 ranked Hudsonville High School. The team played with tenacity and grit but ultimately fell to the Eagles 23-25 and 25-27 losing in overtime and taking second place overall.   The Eagles Play their next match at home against the Rangers of Forest Hills Central for their first Conference match of the season.

The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles took down the falcons of Forest Hills Eastern 3-0. The Eagles pushed through the heat and came out on top beating FHE 25-21, 25-20, and 25-22. The Eagles were led of offense by Lucy VanDrunen with ten kills and Grace Spoelma led with 18 assists. Madison Peal led the charge in the back row with 14 digs and a serve receive average of 2.0. Rachel Larsen led at the serving line with 2 aces. The Eagles play their next match Saturday at East Kentwood high school for the EK invitational.

Eagles volleyball had a very successful weekend, winning the Rockford Rock and Rumble volleyball tournament. The Eagles started the day off strong beating Allendale in two quick sets. They Moved on to play Rockford High School winning in Three exciting games: 26-24, 18-25, and 15-9. Defense was a big part of the success against the Ram’s big offensive. Kayden Warren led the team in blocks with an impressive 6 total blocks and 2 solo blocks. Madison Peal led in the back row with 21 total digs followed by Rachel Larsen. After the two wins against the Falcons and the Rams the Eagles moved on to the gold bracket playing the Vikings of Lake Odessa. The team persevered beating the Vikings: 29-31, 25-22, and 15-11. Grace Goodyke had had a big game on offense with 15 kills and a hitting percentage of .310. Both Hanna Bredeweg and Grace Spoelma led with an impressive 15 assists setting the team up for success against #3 ranked Lake Odessa. The Eagles finished the day with a win against the Red Arrows of Lowell High School winning: 27-25, 25-22. The Eagles led in first contacts with a passing average of 2.1. Lucy VanDrunen led the Eagles at the service line with 2 aces. Hanna Bredeweg finished the first set with a service run of 7, pushing the Red Arrows into overtime and securing the win for the Eagles. The team plays their next match against Forest Hills Eastern at home Tuesday September 5. GO EAGLES!

Eagles Volleyball went to Grand Haven High School this Tuesday. They pushed hard through a long day of volleyball and ended up taking second place in gold falling in three sets to top ranked Portage Northern. The Eagles faced other big teams like Mattawan, Grand Haven, Ludington, Mona Shores and West Ottawa. They took first place in their pool and beat Grand Haven in an exciting semifinal game. The Eagles were led on offense by Grace Spoelma, Hannah Bredeweg, Kayden Warren, and Grace Goodyke. Savannah Bol was a force on defense leading the team in blocks and Madison Peal was a leader in the back row with the most defensive digs. The team plays again this weekend at Rockford High School once again taking on some of the top teams in the state. GO EAGLES!

Grand Rapids Christian volleyball started the season off with a bang, taking home a tournament win at the Falcon Invitational going 4-0 with wins over: Lansing Catholic, Calvin Christian, Catholic Central and West Catholic. Lucy VanDrunen led the charge on offense with 21 kills followed by Grace Goodyke with 20. Savannah Bol led in efficiency with an impressive hitting percentage of .593. The Eagles were led in aces by Ella Boorsma with 5 total for the day. Madison Peal took charge in the back row with 39 digs and a passing average of 2.4. The Eagles have their next match this Tuesday 08/22 at Grand Haven High School at 12:00pm. GO EAGLES!
